Spectral Camera

MDA has developed a spectral camera that detects ice and snow on aircraft, roads, highways, bridges and runways.

The system produces a black and white real-time video image of the scene with colour-coded overlay indicating areas of ice, snow and slush. The above figure shows the pole-mounted camera's view of the snow on a two-lane highway.
