MDA has positioned itself as a key supplier of satellite missions for government
and commercial customers around the world, with innovative solutions for multiple
applications.
The company's heritage as a space mission prime contractor has involved the development
of several world firsts. Notable missions in this category include Anik-C, the first
direct broadcast satellite; MSAT, the first mobile communications satellite; and
RADARSAT-1, the first commercial remote sensing radar satellite. MDA is currently
developing the follow-on program RADARSAT-2 that will provide the world's most advanced
commercially available C-band radar imagery.
The majority of MDA's current satellite mission activities have focused on the development
of high value, turnkey small satellite solutions that combine responsiveness with
end-to-end functionality delivered to the mission end user. With a core strength
in Earth Observation, MDA is now providing satellite missions for space surveillance,
information delivery and space science.
