Background
Leveraging over three decades of flight heritage and more than $2 billion of investment
in advanced space robotics development, this unrivaled capability provides MDA with
the foundation and building blocks to support future manned and unmanned satellite
servicing missions, including the Orbital Express (OE) Mission.
Complex robotic operations have repeatedly been demonstrated by mission critical
systems developed by MDA for both the Shuttle fleet and the International Space
Station. The Shuttle robotic system has deployed, captured
and serviced over a dozen free-flying satellites on orbit, including four successful
missions to service the Hubble Space Telescope. The Mobile Servicing
System on the ISS is expected to service not just the ISS itself, but many
new space vehicles that will visit the ISS.
