Radarsat-1

MDA is a leader in the development and supply of advanced products and systems for space and terrestrial applications that demand the highest performance and reliability. It serves the markets for space, advanced communications and special-purpose equipment, with MDA hardware having flown on more than 200 spacecraft.

MDA has become a leader in the technologies and products that the next generation of commercial satellites will need to offer high-speed multimedia communications services.

  • Payloads: MDA has played an important role in the evolution and development of satellite solutions for decades. Beginning with the delivery of the world's first commercial communications satellite payload in 1961, MDA has provided concept studies, systems design and engineering, payload design, integration and test and all related services, whether they be for communications, remote sensing or space science applications.
  • Antennas: MDA' s satellite antenna products are found in a variety of applications, such as fixed broadcast, government communications, broadband multimedia and mobile communications. MDA' s antenna heritage spans more than three decades and includes a wide variety of architectures and technologies in all major frequency bands.
  • Electronic Products: MDA is a leader in computers, controllers and other digital-processing equipment for space-based mission-critical applications and in optical, microwave and power products, the building blocks for a satellite' s basic communications and power systems. Many hundreds of electronic power conditioners, featuring efficiencies of up to 95% or more have been supplied to satellite prime contractors and first tier subcontractors around the globe. MDA is a major subcontractor on the International Space Station's Mobile Servicing System and Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator robotic programs and has designed and supplied spacecraft equipment to hundreds of satellite programs, communications, remote sensing and space science, for over 40 years.

MDA has successfully manufactured, integrated and tested numerous space hardware equipment for various customers including Alcatel/Aerospatiale, Alenia, Ball, Boeing, Bombardier, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), the European Space Agency (ESA), Harris, Hughes, Lockheed-Martin, Matra Marconi Space, Motorola, NEC, Nortel, Raytheon, SES Astra, Space Systems/Loral, TRW, and many more. In addition, the group is a key contributor to the International Space Station program.
