Cascade is a new and novel space-based information service being developed by MDA.
Analogous to a “FedExTM-in-the-Sky”, the Cascade System will
deliver extremely large digital data files, nominally 10’s to 100’s
of Gbytes, to and from anywhere on Earth typically within a day.
Key enabling and advanced technologies required to implement the Cascade system
that will be demonstrated on CASSIOPE include Ka-band RF transmit and receive chains,
high rate space qualified modulators and demodulators, and high capacity, low power,
low mass on-board data storage.
