MD Space Robotics to Continue Robotics Support to NASA
BRAMPTON, Ontario - MD Robotics announced today its Houston-based U.S. subsidiary,
MD Space Robotics, has been awarded a contract from NASA valued at up to $4.25 million
Cdn. ($2.8 million U.S.) for continued engineering support through July 2005.
This contract extends the technical services provided since 1997 to NASA. It includes
the integration of the Space Station software models into NASA simulators, MSS flight
operations support, data definition and tracking and ad hoc robotic studies.
"We are proud to continue our support to NASA's program operations," said Michael
Vaughn, general manager of MD Space Robotics. "This contract reaffirms NASA's confidence
in the skills and understanding our engineers bring to robotics design and operations
tasks."
Mag Iskander, vice president and general manager of MD Robotics added, "For nearly
20 years we have supported NASA on the original Canadarm program and we look forward
to continuing this relationship through the life of the Space Station robotics."
About the Mobile Servicing System:
MD Robotics is the prime contractor for the Mobile Servicing System (MSS), Canada's
contribution to the International Space Station. The MSS includes Canadarm2 that
was successfully launched in April 2001, the Mobile Base System and Special Purpose
Dexterous Manipulator, scheduled for launch in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
