SPAR Brings Prehistoric Creature to Life
BRAMPTON, Ontario - With a well-established reputation for creating the world's
most futuristic space robotics, Spar has turned the calendar back millions of years
to bring its talents to the re-creation of nature's most fascinating and magnificent
creatures ever: the dinosaur.
Spar,
in cooperation with Universal City Development Partners (UDCP) of Orlando, Florida
is providing state-of-the-art robotically animated dinosaurs. The agreement with
Universal Studios will see Spar design and build three animated dinosaurs, the first
of which was delivered February, 1999.
Spar's robotics expertise was gained initially in the development of the famous
space shuttle Canadarm. That expertise is now coupled with the talents of Universal
Creative and Hall Train Moving Pictures to provide the most life-like, large-scale,
highly realistic animated dinosaurs ever developed.
"For more than 15 years, Spar's robotics have been used by astronauts to help them
explore and experience the wonders of space," noted Chris Woodland, program director
at Spar. "Now that expertise will be available firsthand for everyone to experience
the wonders of one of earth's most extraordinary creatures brought back from extinction."
