MDA to provide advanced technology solutions to be used by a leading commercial satellite operator

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed a multi-million dollar contract with EADS Astrium to provide three advanced technology solutions that will be integrated into the SES-6 satellite. SES-6 will join the fleet of satellites owned and operated by SES New Skies Satellites B.V., a leading provider of satellite capacity to media, enterprise and government organizations worldwide.

The new satellite will provide increased broadcast capacity for the Americas and Europe and add new capacity to support maritime and aeronautical services. SES-6 is expected to be launched in 2013.
