MDA to provide advanced technology solutions for network and media services
Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., (TSX:MDA), a provider of essential information solutions,
announced today it has signed a multi-million dollar contract with Boeing Satellite
and Intelligence Systems, Inc. (Boeing). MDA will deliver four advanced technology
solutions with the potential opportunity to supply twelve additional units. The
first four units will fly on a Boeing 702B satellite.
Don Osborne, one of MDA's vice presidents with the Information Systems group, said
'We look forward to a strategic long-term relationship with Boeing. This contract
strengthens our leading role in the commercial communication satellite industry.'
This contract is an integral part of Boeing's Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRB)
program associated with the Canadian government's acquisition of four C-17 airlifters
- designated CC-177 for the Canadian Forces. Canada's IRB Policy requires prime
contractors such as Boeing to make investments in the Canadian economy as a result
of winning defence and security contracts with the Government of Canada.
